Quick answer: To connect your funnel builder to Stripe, you create a Stripe account, open the Developers area to copy your publishable and secret keys, paste those keys into the Payments or Integrations section of your funnel builder, run a test purchase with Stripe's test card, and then switch from test mode to live mode. Most funnel builders handle the webhook setup automatically, so the whole job takes 20 to 40 minutes.↗ Share on X

You connect your funnel builder to Stripe in seven steps: create a Stripe account, switch Stripe to test mode, copy your API keys, paste them into your funnel builder's payment settings, build a checkout page with a product, run a test purchase with Stripe's test card, and flip both tools to live mode. No code is needed. Most people finish in 20 to 40 minutes, and the longest part is waiting for Stripe to verify your identity.

Have these ready so you do not stop halfway:

If you already have a Stripe account for another business, do not reuse it. Create a separate account per business. Mixing payments from two businesses in one account makes taxes and refunds messy later.

Step 1: How do you create a Stripe account?

1. Go to stripe.com and click Start now.

2. Enter your email, full name and a strong password.

3. Confirm your email from the link Stripe sends.

4. Fill in the business profile: country, business type (individual or company), address, website or social profile, and what you sell.

5. Add your bank account for payouts.

6. Upload your ID when asked.

Stripe may approve you in minutes or take a few days. You can do every step below while you wait, because test mode works before verification is complete. You just cannot accept real money until Stripe approves the account.

Step 2: Why should you turn on test mode first?

Test mode lets you run fake purchases with fake cards. Nothing moves, no fees are charged, and you can break things without hurting a real customer.

In the Stripe dashboard look for the Test mode toggle in the top right corner. Turn it on. The screen usually gets an orange label so you always know which mode you are in. Keep it on until Step 7.

Step 3: Where are the API keys and which ones do you copy?

API keys are the passwords that let your funnel builder talk to Stripe. There are two of them:

KeyStarts withWhat it doesWhere it goes
Publishable keypk_test_ (test) or pk_live_ (live)Shows the card form on your pageSafe to paste anywhere
Secret keysk_test_ (test) or sk_live_ (live)Actually charges the cardPaste only into your funnel builder's secure settings

To find them: in the Stripe dashboard click Developers (top right), then API keys. You will see the publishable key in full. Click Reveal test key to see the secret key. Copy both into a note for the next step.

Never paste the secret key into a chat, an email, or a page on your site. Anyone who has it can charge cards on your behalf. If you ever leak it, go back to this screen and click Roll key to replace it.

Step 4: How do you paste the keys into your funnel builder?

Every builder hides this in a slightly different menu. Here is where to look:

Two things can happen on that screen:

1. The builder asks for keys. Paste the publishable key and the secret key into the matching boxes and save.

2. The builder shows a "Connect with Stripe" button. Click it, log into Stripe in the pop-up, and approve. This is called Stripe Connect, and you never touch the keys yourself. It is the easier path when it is offered.

If the page asks for a "webhook URL" or "webhook secret", read the next step. If it does not, your builder handles webhooks for you and you can skip ahead.

Step 5: What is a webhook and do you need to set one up?

A webhook is a message Stripe sends back to your funnel builder when something happens: a payment succeeded, a card was declined, a subscription renewed. Without it, Stripe can take the money but your funnel never finds out, so the customer never gets access to the product.

Most modern builders create the webhook for you when you connect. If yours asks you to do it by hand:

1. In your funnel builder, copy the webhook URL it shows you.

2. In Stripe go to Developers, then Webhooks, then Add endpoint.

3. Paste the URL.

4. Under events to send, pick at least these: checkout.session.completed, payment_intent.succeeded, invoice.paid, customer.subscription.deleted.

5. Save. Stripe shows a Signing secret that starts with whsec_. Copy it back into your funnel builder if it asked for one.

That is the only part that sounds technical. It is copy and paste both ways.

Step 6: How do you test a purchase without spending money?

Now build a real checkout page in your funnel builder with a product and a price. Then act like a customer.

Use Stripe's official test card number: 4242 4242 4242 4242. Any future expiry date works, any three-digit CVC works, and any ZIP code works. This number is published by Stripe for exactly this purpose and never charges anything.

Run through this checklist:

1. Open the checkout page in a private browser window.

2. Enter a test name and email you can check.

3. Pay with the 4242 card.

4. Confirm the thank-you page loads.

5. In Stripe, open Payments and confirm the test payment appears with the right amount.

6. In your funnel builder, confirm the order shows up and any automation fired (welcome email, course access, tag added).

7. Test a failed payment with card 4000 0000 0000 0002, which Stripe always declines. Make sure your page shows a clear error instead of a blank screen.

If step 5 passes but step 6 fails, the webhook is the problem. Go back to Step 5 and check the URL and events.

Step 7: How do you switch to live mode safely?

Once every test passes and Stripe has approved your account:

1. Turn off test mode in Stripe.

2. Go to Developers, then API keys again. The keys now start with pk_live_ and sk_live_. Copy them.

3. In your funnel builder, replace the test keys with the live keys. If you used the Connect button, there is usually a separate toggle for live mode.

4. If you built a webhook by hand, create it again in live mode. Test-mode webhooks do not carry over.

5. Make one real purchase of your cheapest product with your own card. Then refund it from the Stripe dashboard. A refund of a real charge is the only true proof that live mode works.

How much does Stripe charge and when do you get paid?

Stripe takes a small percentage plus a fixed amount from each successful card payment. The exact rate depends on your country and card type, so check the pricing page for your region before you set prices. There is no monthly fee and no setup fee on the standard plan.

Payouts go to your bank on a rolling schedule. Your first payout usually takes longer than later ones, because Stripe holds new accounts a bit while it checks for fraud. After that, most countries get payouts every two business days or weekly. You can see the schedule under Settings, then Payouts.

Your next step

Open two browser tabs right now: one with your Stripe dashboard in test mode, one with your funnel builder's payment settings. Copy the two test keys across, build a checkout page with one product, and run the 4242 test card before you close your laptop today. Do not switch to live until that test payment shows up in both tools.

FAQ

Do I need to know how to code to connect Stripe?

No. You copy two keys from Stripe into your funnel builder, or click a Connect button. If a webhook is needed, it is a copy-and-paste of a URL in one direction and a secret in the other.

Why does my test payment show in Stripe but not in my funnel builder?

The webhook is not reaching your builder. Check that the webhook URL in Stripe matches the one your builder gave you and that the checkout.session.completed and payment_intent.succeeded events are selected.

Can I use one Stripe account for several funnels?

Yes, as long as they belong to the same business. Create a separate Stripe account for each separate business so refunds, taxes and payouts stay clean.
